Some firsts

We've had some firsts going on at our house this past week.  Of course most things that happen are a first for Miss Sydney, but Parker has been involved too!

Parker got his first set of X-rays.
He fell at school and his finger swelled up and turned blue.  It wasn't broken, just badly jammed.  Being a boy mom, I knew X-rays were coming at some point.  Ugh!

First time to see this beauty!  It was parked in front of our Walmart Saturday morning.  Doesn't it crack you up?

First time Parker really got into decorating.  He is definitely his mother's son.  He stayed by my side the whole day and decorated the entire house with me, I love it!!

Ta da!

It is a blessing to get to spend everyday with these two!

First time eating blueberries in her oatmeal, it was a hit!

6 months

I say it every month, but I really can't believe our Sydney Kate is already 6 months old (about to be 7).  I feel like she should still be a newborn, why do they have to grow so fast?
6 months and on is my FAVORITE!!  We've kind of made it out of the newborny/needy phase and there is a whole lot of personality going on!
This child adores her brother and wants to watch every move he makes! She is finally SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT!!!!!  Praise the Lord!  It took us 6 months to get there, but we made it!  I read Dr. Ferber's book "Solve Your Child's Sleep Problems" and put into practice some of his suggestions...it worked!  I weaned her off that middle of the night feeding and within a week, we had a baby who was sleeping!  (yes there was a lot of crying it out). It's been 6 months since I laid my head down at night and didn't wake up until the next morning.  Do you know how GOOD that feels?  I feel like a new woman!!
Sydney continues to make my heart burst!  I just look at her and remember what heartache we went through trying to get pregnant with her and how I thought I'd never get over one but two miscarriages.  God is so good and faithful, SHE is the perfect daughter for us!

At 6 months Sydney:
* sleeps all night long!
* eats purred fruits and veggies with rice/oatmeal cereal twice a day
* loves to eat her food and will try anything I put in her mouth!
* is rolling all over creation, backwards and forwards
* is working on two bottom teeth
* takes a cat nap in the morning and a long 21/2 hour afternoon nap
* laughs and squeals a very girly squeal
* is in bed by 7 pm and up by 7 am
* is such an easy going baby

We love you Sydney Kate!  You complete our family and bring us such joy!!

October

WARNING:  very long post because this mama finally had time to sit down and blog!!  I understand if I lose you half way through this post.  Those of you who love long posts...read on!!

I'm not gonna lie...I have mourned the loss of summer for quite sometime now, but I am truly excited that Fall is here!  Love it.  I love pumpkins, cinnamon, my crock pot and any recipe that has pumpkin in it!  Oh yeah, and I think I'm ok with cooler temperatures too...as long as it doesn't turn COLD on me! :)

We've been busy so far this Fall!  We made a trip up to The Broadmoor several weeks ago and had a blast.  The weather was not ideal for the golfers in our family, but this girl loved all the rain!!  Parker has been busy learning so much in pre-K, I love seeing him blossom.  Little Sis and I enjoy our mornings while P is in school...we workout, shop, get pedicures, run errands and just hang out.  It's sweet time together!
My mom has been here twice to stay with us over two weekends.   About a month and a half ago, I was home alone with the kids one night while James was away and a man tried to break into our house, at 10:00 at night and I saw him.  I had to dial 911, a friend with a gun and the man was caught in our front yard and arrested.  I haven't been the same since.  Needless to say...I refuse to stay by myself at night.  So...mom to the rescue!!  :)  My prayer is that my fear subsides and I will one day be ok at night when I have to be alone.

In baby news...Sydney Kate turned 5 months since I last blogged.  This girl is such a happy baby!  She has learned to roll over one way, is starting the teething process and laughs and smiles all the time.  She is very laid back and is such an observer.  She watches every move Parker makes. We just love her to pieces!
OK  That is it for now!  I have just accepted the fact that in this season of my life, I am fine with blogging once a month.  It is all I can muster these days, I'm sorry for those who miss my more consistent posts...I'm pretty sure that might just be one of you. ;)  Anyway, these precious kids are this young just once and I don't want to miss a thing so therefore my blog suffers!

I hope everyone is having a great Fall!

Family pic at the Broadmoor...this would be perfect if our last name was Gibson.
